Obituary

Antonetta LaMastra, 93, of Hoboken, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Born in Molfetta, Italy, she immigrated to Hoboken with her family in 1963. She shared 62 loving years of marriage with her beloved husband, Domenico, who passed away in 2014.

After retiring from her work as a seamstress, Antonetta and Domenico spent their summers in Italy, traveling and enjoying precious time with family and friends. She loved keeping up with news from Italy, faithfully reading her Italian newspaper and listening to Italian radio broadcasts. She also enjoyed classic Italian songs and never missed an opportunity to dance at parties. Above all, Antonetta cherished cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Antonetta is survived by her two loving sons and their spouses, Damiano (Dina) and Giuseppe (Nadia); her cherished daughters, Carmela Mezzina (Saverio) and Margherita LaMastra; her son-in-law, former mayor David Roberts; and her sister, Angelina Maiellaro.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Anna M. Roberts, in 2013; her beloved husband, Domenico, in 2014; and her two sisters, Margherita Posteraro and Sabina Pepe, who lived in Italy.

One of Antonetta’s greatest joys was her ten grandchildren and their spouses: Francesco, Domenico (Rianne), Amanda (Patrick), David (Annalisa), Nicholas, Liana (Casey), Dominick, Christopher, Daniel, and Jacqueline. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren:

Grace, Alivia, Emily, and Rio. Antonetta shared a special bond with her brother and sister-in-law, Giuseppe and Gina Marzocca. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews here and in Italy.
