Obituary

Valentina Giacchi, 79, of Hoboken passed away peacefully at Morristown Memorial Hospital on February 9th. Born in Zenson d’ Piave, Italy “Treviso”, Tina immigrated to Hoboken on July 18, 1955 on the SS Constitution. 

As a teenager, Tina was employed as a dental secretary for Dr. Frank Marciano. She then worked for MONY Insurance Company in NYC. After raising her children, she worked in various municipal offices for the City of Hoboken for over 25 years. During that time, she was also a Hoboken Real Estate Agent. 

She married John “The Barber” Giacchi on June 7th 1964 who predeceased her in 1983. She was also predeceased by her mother Margherita (Campion) Vlacich and her brother Renato Vlacich. Surviving are two sons Angelo “Nino” Giacchi and his wife Mary; Renato “Rene” and his wife Anna and a daughter Pamela Dirkin and her husband Walter. Tina was blessed with 8 grandchildren Nina, Giovanni, Toni, Nicola, Alexander, Grace, Meghan and Kari. Also surviving are her cherished cousin Gino Battaglia, niece Renata Major, nephew Sergio Vlacich and their families. Tina enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the Jersey Shore and always loved warm weather vacations. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to share in the celebration of the Eucharist at her Funeral Mass on Monday, February 14th beginning at 10:30AM at St. Ann’s R.C. Church located 7th and Jefferson Street, Hoboken NJ 07030. Entombment will follow with her late husband John at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ. Arrangements by Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken NJ. Parking Available in rear of Memorial Home off 6th Street. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 13th beginning at 2PM and concluding at 6PM.  Mass will be streamlined virtual at St. Ann Catholic Church Hoboken NJ-you tube/ videos or www.utube.com/watch St. Ann Hoboben.
