Theresa (“Terry”) Sasso, 92, of Hoboken, NJ passed away peacefully on August 29th 2023 at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Terry was born in Molfetta, Italy on April 15, 1931, to the late Vito and Suzanna Gadaleta. At age 6, Terry and her family immigrated to Hoboken.

A longtime resident of Hoboken, Terry spent the majority of her working career at the Hoboken Public Library, advancing to the position of Acting Director. Terry’s accomplishments at the library included expanding and modernizing the Children’s section, the creation of the Frank Sinatra Memorabilia Collection, and much more.

The hallmark and love of Terry’s life was being with both her children and grandchildren, and enjoying time spent with her many friends at Church Towers.

Terry had tireless love, devotion, wisdom and generosity for her family which was extended to countless friends throughout her lifetime. We will all remember and miss Terry’s famous anisette cookies and cream puffs that were a staple of every family gathering.

Terry is survived by her children, Frank Sasso and his wife Maria, Anthony Sasso and his wife Filomena and Robert Sasso. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Damiano Sasso, Frankie Sasso, Theresa Marie Sasso, Alex Sasso and Daniel Sasso: her two sisters Isabell Farinola and Nicoleta Brateris. She was predeceased by her cherished husband Damiano in 1990 and her brother Sabino (“Sal”) Gadaleta in 2021.

A visitation will be held at Failla-McKnight Memorial Home on Friday September 1st beginning at 4PM and concluding at 8PM.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Hoboken beginning at 10AM on Saturday September 2nd, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Terry’s favorite charity St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
