Sandra Sansevere, 72, born and raised in Hoboken, passed away on August 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved
ones. She dedicated her life to her family, especially her mother, Ann, and grandmother, Lena.
Her vocation was teaching; she spent 33 years as an esteemed middle school teacher in the Hoboken Public
School District – primarily at Brandt. Spirited and dynamic, the classroom was her stage. She cared deeply for
her students and reveled in celebrating their accomplishments. She left a lasting impression on the hundreds of
students she taught.
Sandy is survived by her caring brothers, Charles and Michael, and her sisters-in-law, Madeline and Kathryn.
Aunt D is cherished by her nephews, Joseph, Marc and his wife, Daniella; Michael and his wife, Katherine;
and “her girls”: Monroe, Kennedy, and McKinley. She will be missed dearly by her many cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ann and Joseph Sansevere; maternal grandparents, Lena and Michael
Bucco; and paternal grandparents, Lillian and Charles Sansevere.
Well-known by restaurants within a mile radius, Sandy was one of a kind – iconic. Seated in a folding lawn
chair, she was a constant in front of her Adams Street home when the weather was nice; however, the slightest
breeze and she would swiftly bundle-up. Joined by family and friends, their time together was filled with
stories and laughter. Thank you Dolores, Emily, Gaynell and so many others for sitting outside with her and
creating lasting memories.
Her funeral mass will be offered at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Hoboken on August 14, 2025 at
11:00am. Prior to mass, visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made to St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church.
