Rosa Vera (nee Escudero), 76, of Hoboken passed away at home on January 31, 2021. Born in Manati, Puerto Rico, Rosa moved to Hoboken in 1950 where she was a lifelong resident. Rosa valued her family and friends and was always willing to help those in need, whether by cooking a warm meal or donating clothes. She was a devout and long time supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s research hospital. Surviving are her beloved children, Retired Hoboken Police Sergeant Willam Vera and his wife Haydee, and Nancy Betancourt. A great joy in Rosa’s life were her grandchildren, William A. and Evan, Christopher and his fiancée Paola Mejia-Cipriah, and Nicholas and Adam. Rosa was blessed with two great grandchildren, Mia and Joshua. Rosa was predeceased by her loving parents Juan and Maria Escudero and two sisters Lidia Burgos and Emma Rios.
A private funeral service will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery on Friday February 5, 2020, a Memorial Mass for the celebration of Rosa’s life will be scheduled for a later date.
