Rosa Torres (Mestre) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home at the age of 65 on October 29, 2021 after courageously battling Alzheimer’s for 12 years. Rosa who was also fondly called “Rosin” was born on December 25th in Humacao, Puerto Rico and was a lifelong resident of Jersey City since the age of nine.
Rosa attended Rafael De J Cordero for elementary school and graduated from James J. Ferris High School in 1975. Rosa continued on to complete courses in banking. Rosa was employed by Statewide Savings Bank/Independence Community Bank for 30 years until retiring in 2006.
Rosa leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband of 43 years, William (Willie), her daughter Melanie Ann and her granddaughter, Raegan Mariah, which was her greatest joy in life.
Rosa is preceded in death by her parents Rosaria and Vidal Mestre. Rosa is survived by her father-in-law, Luis Torres (Edelmira), six siblings Maria, Celia, Lisandra, Vidal Jr., Noe and Joel along with their spouses, godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, granddaughter at heart Carissa Joy, friends and neighbors.
A brief visitation and prayer service will be celebrated on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 10:00am at Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken, NJ. Parking available in rear of memorial home off Sixth Street. Please wear a mask.
Interment immediately following at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ.
