Richard E. Del Boccio, 84, of Hoboken, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his home on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025.
Richard was a graduate of St. Peter’s Prep High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Peter’s College, followed by a Master’s Degree from Seton Hall University.
Richard’s first teaching assignment was at Demarest, where he taught History. He was later appointed Vice Principal at the Sadie F. Leinkauf School #8. His next assignment was as Principal of the Calabro School, where he served with professionalism and dedication for 17 years.
Richard loved serving the public in his beloved City of Hoboken.
He was a proud member of the Hoboken Elks Lodge #74 for nearly 49 years.
A political career admired by many Hoboken citizens soon followed. Richard served as Councilman-at-Large and later as Councilman of the Second Ward. With sincere vigor, he chaired the Hoboken Elks Lodge Scholarship Committee for over 10 years.
He will also be remembered for his dedication and accomplishments with the Hoboken 9/11 Memorial Committee.
Surviving are his cherished and devoted wife of 62 years, Victoria (née DePinto); his two loving daughters, Ann Margaret and her husband David Bogdanos, and Karen Del Boccio-Johnson and her husband Richard; his only son, Joseph, and his wife Faye; and his dear sister, Louise Del Boccio, who will miss him deeply.
He was predeceased by his only brother, Joseph Del Boccio, and his devoted parents, Joseph and Ann (née Borelli).
A great joy in Richard’s life was being a grandfather — “Pop Pop” — to his only grandson, Nicholas Bogdanos.
