Obituary

Peter Zanin, 46, passed away suddenly at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Peter was a Sergeant in the Hoboken Police Department for more than twenty years.  A resident of Hoboken, he moved to Parsippany a year ago. Surviving is his loving wife, Samantha (nee Funk), and his three cherished children, Olivia, Christian and Madison, his mother, Arlene Zanin, his only brother Kevin, his brothers-in-law, West Orange Police Detective Ryan Funk and Sgt. Jesse Funk of the Palm Beach County Sherriff’s office and their wives, Leslie and Julie and his mother-in-law, Kathleen Funk. Peter was the endeared nephew of Patrick and Lynn Fitzgerald and Robert and Barbara Aris. He was predeceased by his devoted father, Peter Zanin, Sr. Peter took on many benevolent challenges, such as Coat Drives, Toys for Tots and many other community events in the Mile Square City.  Known to many as “Peachy” for his reddish hair. A graduate of Hudson Catholic High School. He was appointed a Police Officer in March of 1999. An avid New York Rangers fan and Vice President of the Hoboken Police Motorcycle Club. Peter was respected by all of his colleagues.

The Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, November 30, 2020, 10am at Ss. Peter and Paul RC Church, Hoboken. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, New Jersey. Private visitation for immediate family will begin at 2pm and conclude at 4pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited for visiting on Sunday, November 29th, beginning at 4pm and concluding at 8pm at Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken. Parking available in rear of memorial home off Sixth Street.
