Pauline M. Russo, nee Gardullo passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 14th, 2025- two months short of her 98th birthday.

She was a native of Jersey City and later moved to Hoboken where she and her beloved husband Salvatore raised their two daughters, Linda and Janet.

She was a graduate of Jersey City State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in education. She taught both in the Hoboken public school system and also at SS. Peter and Paul School on Hudson Street totaling 40 years of teacheing. It was not unusual for her to walk into a bank or store in town, and be greeted by former students who gushed with warm memories of having had her as a teacher.

She traveled to almost every part of the world with her husband and a close circle of life-long friends and enjoyed summers with her family on LBI and Spring Lake.

She was creative with a sense of humor but could be feisty and stubborn as well. She was affectionately known as “Mamma Bear”.

She was a devout Catholic and at one point taught religion. A master navigator in the car, she sniffed out bargains in the most obscure locations. She loved to shop.

Pauline was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Salvatore, her parents Letizia and John Gardullo and a brother, Michael.

She will live forever in the hearts of her daughters, Linda Russo Lombardi, wife of Joseph; Janet Russo Cubelli, wife of Ken; her eight grandchildren: Adriana, Joseph, Christina, Michael, Marc, Peter, Stefanie, Paul and her eleven great grandchildren. Her life was fulfilling, inspiring, and a testimony to God and family.

The Funeral Mass will offered at ST Ann’s RC Church on February 21st, 2025 at 10AM.

The family will acknowledge relatives and friends prior to the mass beginning at 9:15AM.

There will be no visitation at the Funeral home.

Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations to ECLC of NJ PRIDE PROGRAM 100 Passaic Ave Chatman NJ, 07928 will be appreciated by the family in tribute to Pauline.
