Patricia Grace Barone (MACALI), known affectionately as Patti, a warm, easy going, and deeply loving mother, grandmother, wife and friend, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 12, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of laughter and unconditional love.
Born on May 15, 1951, in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Bridget Amato Macali and Frank Macali. She was born and raised in Hoboken, where she developed her bright sense of humor and a natural gift for putting people at ease, or in their place, if needed. She had an effortless way about her that made everyone feel comfortable, welcomed, and often in stitches from her quick wit.
She met John Barone at her favorite place in the world, at the beach with her feet in the sand. They married in 1975 and after their wedding, they settled in North Bergen, New Jersey, where they built their home and life together, remaining there throughout the years.
Patricia found simple, profound happiness in the everyday things she cherished: her beloved dogs who brought her endless delight, the thrill of live music concerts, the familiar comfort of her kitchen radio playing her favorite songs, the gentle motion of her glider where she loved to sit with a cup of tea, and the drama of her favorite soap opera. She also loved tending to her plants and flowers, finding joy in nurturing them and spending peaceful time in the yard and outdoors. But above all, her heart belonged to her family.
Her greatest pride and joy were her two daughters: Jennifer and Melissa, and her adored son in laws, Nico and Joe. She was the devoted grandmother “Nanny” to five cherished grandchildren: Adrienne, Joey, Jake, Elaina, and John, who were the light and loves of her life and the recipients of her boundless affection, stories, hugs, and home cooked meals.
Her home was always open, her humor always ready, and her love always abundant. Patricia had a special talent for gathering people around her table, making them laugh, feel at home, and leave with full hearts (and full stomachs).
She will be remembered for the warmth she brought to every room, the way she could lighten any moment with a joke or a smile, and the quiet strength of her devotion to those she loved. Patricia’s easy spirit and generous heart touched countless lives, and her memory will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew her.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, John Barone; her brother, Frank Macali; her daughters Jennifer Percontino (Nico) and Melissa Percontino (Joe); her grandchildren Adrienne, Joey, Jake, Elaina, and John; and many other loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Patricia’s memory by sharing a laugh with someone, turning up the radio for a favorite song, tending to a plant, or simply making someone feel truly welcome just as she always did. Please say a prayer to St. Ann for her and call out to Mother Cabrini in her honor.
Rest in peace, our beloved Patti. Your love and laughter will live on forever in the hearts of those you held so close.
The family is accepting visitors on Tuesday, 10 AM, prior to the Funeral Mass at 11:30, at St. Francis Church, 308 Jefferson Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030.
Patti will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
