Obituary

Mary V. (nee Mazzeo) Sacco, b. 1937, passed away on the morning of May 23, 2021.

Mary was born on December 21, 1937.  She was raised as a first-generation Italian American and an Assyrian American.  Mary was infinitely and equally proud of her Italian and Assyrian heritages.  She was passionate about her family ancestry and enjoyed discovering her ethnicity and passing down Mazzeo and Sacco family histories.  Mary grew up in Hoboken, NJ, as the daughter of Julia (nee Esehak) and D. Francis Mazzeo.  She was a graduate of Demarest High School.  Mary was the proud matriarch of her family; pre-deceased by her husband Carlo A. Sacco.  Prior to working, Mary spent time cultivating a home for her immediate family.  She worked for many years as an intake receptionist at Secaucus Animal Hospital.  Her boundaryless love for animals was expressed through her work.  She and Carlo adopted many beloved pets throughout her life.

Mary was a dedicated Catholic who worshiped at Immaculate Conception RC Church in Secaucus where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.  She was dedicated to St. Ann and also praying the rosary.

Mary is loved and survived by her children Joseph F. and Annemarie Sacco and daughter-in-law, Patricia N. Sacco; by her grandchildren Christel P. Hiltibran and Gabriel J. Sacco; grandsons-in-law, Tim Hiltibran and DJ Garamella.  Recently, she proudly met and held her great grandchild, Rose E. Hiltibran (b. 2020).

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Immaculate Conception RC Church located at 1219 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094.  A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception RC Church located at 1219 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094 on Thursday, May 27 at 9:30 am.  In accordance to Immaculate Conception guidelines, social distancing and mask wearing are in effect.
