Maria Elena Montanez 72, of Hoboken NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday December 25th, 2023 in the presence of her loving daughter Nydia.

Maria was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico and in 1957 Maria moved with her mother and siblings to Hoboken, NJ.

An endeared daughter to Carmen and sister to Nancy and two brothers Ignacio (Sunday) and Joey.

In the earlier years Maria was employed by Levolor in Hoboken, NJ. She then retired as P.C Technician for Canon Camera Inc in Paramus, NJ for many years. 

Maria’s life revolved around her children. Her two daughters Michele and Nydia and her only son Cristino and his wife Jennifer. 

Her greatest joy in life was being the grandmother to her loving grandchildren Cristina and Xavier. 

Maria loved to dance especially when it came to Salsa there was nothing stopping her from dancing. Maria loved to cook and was well known for her famous Arroz con Gandules.

We take the opportunity to also acknowledge the late Cristino Ortiz Sr., her cherished companion for almost 40 years.

A memorial blessing will be held at 2:00pm at the funeral chapel Friday January 5th, 2024.

A private cremation will follow.

Vitiation will be held on Friday January 5th, 2024 beginning at 1:00pm and concluding at 3:00pm.
