Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorenzo Cormio, 84, of Weehawken, NJ. He passed in his home surrounded by his loved ones on May 24, 2023.

Lorenzo was born and raised in Molfetta, Italy to the late Sergio and Marta (nee Caputi) Cormio. Lorenzo worked in carpentry and construction throughout Italy and then Germany.

He later migrated to Hoboken, NJ in 1972, eventually settling in Weehawken. He worked and retired as a Carpenter for D&D Millwork in Belleville.

Lorenzo is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Elisabetta (nee Porcelli) Cormio. He leaves behind his daughter Martha DiGioia and her husband Ralph, and his son Sergio Cormio and his wife Angela. He was a devoted Nonno to his four dearest grandchildren, Katiana, Nadia, Isabella and Luca.

He is survived by his sisters Gina Sgherza, Maria Andreula, Rosa LaForgia and Elena Abbatista, and predeceased by his brothers Giovanni Cormio and Antonio Cormio.

He enjoyed watching the game of soccer, was proud of his skilled woodcraft, and Benny Hill always seemed to put a smile on his face.

His kind spirit will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
