Obituary

Juan Melendez, 97, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2020, at his Garfield residence in the presence of his family. Born in Caugus, Puerto Rico. Juan came to the United States in 1940 and to Hoboken in 1955 where he resided until 1998 and was a residence of Garfield for the past twenty-three years.  Juan worked as a Pipefitter Textile Manager for Dale Brook Finishing Company in Ho Ho Kus, New Jersey and was a member of the Textile Union. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Carmen in 2018. Surviving is his two cherished sons, Juan, Jr. and his wife Georgia and Hilario, five loving daughters, Nydia Arvelo (Eddie), Hilda, Andrea Ramos, Sandra Quinones (Clyde) and Linda Mancuso (Lance). He was predeceased by a daughter, Alice and a grandson, Jeremey. A great joy in his life were his endeared grandchildren, Rosie, Dawn, Edwin, Martin, Andrew, Jason, Alberto, Aaron, Eddie, Jonathan and Zachary. Mr. Melendez was also blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren who were very much a part of his life.

The Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, 10AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken, NJ. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 7, 2020, 4PM to 8PM at the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken. Parking will be available in rear of memorial home off Sixth Street.
