Joseph Vitolo, 85, of Hoboken passed away on February 8th, 2023 at Hoboken University Medical Center.
Joseph was a proud fire Captain for the City of Hoboken from 1969 to 1994. He was appointed captain in 1989.
He was a member a of the FMBA Union, no. 1078 and 1076. Both in Hoboken, the city he loved.
Surviving is his loving wife, Anna DeFazio. A son, Joseph and a daughter, Kimberly.
Also surviving, is his sister, Mary Kreuter and her husband John.
A great joy in his life was his grand-daughter, Gabrielle.
Joseph was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Dominick and two sisters, Frances Vezzali and Raffaella Churchill.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters-in-laws, Beatrice and MaryAnn and brother-in-laws Tommy and Kathy DeFazio and Alfred Fatone, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as his special pet-pal Gizmo.
The funeral mass will be offered at St. Francis RC Church in Hoboken on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 at 10am.
Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, NJ.
Vistation at Failla-McKnight memorial home on Tuesday, February 14th, 2023, beginning at 2pm and concluding at 8pm.
Parking available in rear of memorial home. Off sixth St., between Park Avenue and Willow.
