John G. Wallington, 61, of Hoboken, NJ passed peacefully on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 at Palisades General Hospital in North Bergen.
John is survived by his beloved parents Dolores Wallington, father Retired Fire Captain Lawrence Wallington.
John will be missed dearly by his brother Retired Fire Captain James Wallington and wife Nancy, sister Dana Paturzo and husband John, his nephew Matteo and many Wallington cousins.
John was a Hoboken legend! He was born and raised in Hoboken. Graduated from St. Joseph’s grammar school and St. Joseph’s of the Palisades high school in West New York.
He held many jobs over the years from a runner on the floor of the NY Stock exchange to delivering food for the Spa diner. John was an avid reader who could recite stats and little known facts about his passions, baseball and music, to name a few.
John had a quick wit and could make you laugh until you cried – his humor was his genius! He’ll be remember for always looking his best, playing his favorite lottery numbers every day (his birthday) and always ending a phone conversation with “luv ya” but perhaps he will be remembered most for the friendships he nurtured and maintained over the years.
John was generous, loyal and thoughtful and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 24th, 2025 at St. Ann’s RC Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Hoboken, NJ.
Relative and friends are respectfully invited to share in the celebration of the eucharist.
Parking will be available on Madison Street behind the church.
