In Loving Memory of Javier Nieves
July 4, 1971 – February 27, 2026
Javier Nieves, a proud Hoboken New Jersey native born on July 4, 1971, passed away on February 27, 2026 surrounded by an abundance of love and the presence of the Lord. He later made his home in Bayonne, New Jersey, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.
Javier was a devoted husband to his cherished wife, Janet, and a proud and dedicated father to his son, Javier Nieves Jr., and his daughter, Shanice Nieves. His greatest joy was his family, and he cherished his role as grandfather to his precious grandson, Davian. He is also lovingly survived by his mother, Norma Torres; his sisters, Ruthie, Josie, Terry, and Erica; his brothers, Jose, Jeffrey & Joey; his Uncle Sam, two aunts Maria and Maritza, his sisters-in-law, Janice and Melanie; his brothers-in-law, Mike, Joel, & Lee; his In-Laws Lillian & Rogelio Narvaez, his many beautiful nieces and nephews Georgie (Kayden), Joseph, Amanda, Jayden, Willie, Jose & Joey, a multitude of cousins and in-laws, and his precious dog, Faith.
A man of unwavering faith, Javier loved the Lord. His passion for spreading the Gospel—especially to young people—was truly admirable. He found purpose and joy in encouraging others, guiding them with wisdom, and leading by example. His life reflected his devotion, compassion, and gratitude.
Javier was known for his contagious laugh, his silly jokes, and his ability to light up any room the moment he walked in. He was friendly to everyone he met, hardworking, positive, and always ready with good advice. To know him was to love him. His warmth, humor, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the blessing of crossing his path.
Javier’s legacy of faith, love, laughter, and light will continue to live on through all who knew him. Though he is deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that his spirit and teachings remain forever in their hearts.
The Nieves Family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude and recognition to all of the friends and extended family for all of the continual prayers, well wishes and support, in particular Dr. Alejandro Romero and Dr. Elliot Shulman for their care and counsel, Madeline and Ariel Rivera, Alice and Phil, Heather Montas, Pastors Ruben and Eufemia Rios, Pastor Moses, George Escobar, Joey & Cynthia Cortez, Pastors Lisa & Anibal.
