Emil DiLorenzo, of Hoboken, N.J., passed on to Heaven on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025 suddenly while at home.
Emil’s friendly nature, his stories, and his overall zest for life was cherished by anybody he encountered during his nearly 94 years and his memory will be forever treasured.
Emil was born in Hoboken on May 13th, 1931 and spent all of his younger years in Hoboken.
In 1955, Emil married the love of his life, Marilyn (nee Casler) and they soon started a family.
Emil’s patriotism led him to join the Army and soon he was off to Korea and Japan to defend freedom. Upon his return stateside in 1953, Emil returned and began working at Maxwell House in Hoboken. He was proud to rise to the role of foreman at the Maxwell House plant, retiring within a few years of its closing in 1992.
Emil and Marilyn raised their children in Union City and would return to their beloved hometown of Hoboken, where both lived for the remainder of their lives. Emil loved his hometown, and right up until his passing, could be seen walking to get his morning paper and lottery tickets, or stopping by a local hangout rehashing stories that only he could tell.
Emil was beloved by his family. Emil was predeceased by Marilyn, his wife of 70 years, his daughter Debbie and brother Anthony. He is survived by 4 daughters, Donna Buckley (Daniel) of Freehold, NJ, Doreen DiLorenzo (Sheryl Bender) of Rehoboth, DE, Denise Kermode (Mark) of Wayne, NJ and Diane Black (James) of St. Petersburg, FL.
Emil is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Douglas (Isaura), Timothy (Kate), Gregory (Vanessa), Ryan, Emily (Gary), Charlotte (Rob) and James and 4 great-grandchildren, Sophie, August, George and Lida.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, from 2PM to 6PM at the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Ave., Hoboken, N.J.
The Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, April 7th, 2025 at St. Francis RC Church beginning at 10AM.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.
In Lieu of Flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Emil to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
