Obituary

Claudia Riordan ( nee Apicella) , 69, of Bayonne, passed away August 22, 2021 at Bayonne Medical Center. She was born December 26, 1951 in Jersey City, the daughter of the late Alfonse and Phyllis (Vecchio) Apicella, and grew up in Hoboken. She later resided in Country Village in Jersey City and Bayonne. She was a secretary with the Woolworth Company in New York City, and recently retired as a security receiver with Pathmark/A&P in Jersey City. Claudia was a softball and All-Stars coach with the College Little League and coached her daughter’s Our Lady of Mercy basketball team in Jersey City. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was the beloved mother of Jillian Riordan and her partner, Dexter McInnis, adored grandmother of Jaiden, Aliyah, and Kaylee McInnis; cherished sister of Donald and William Apicella and sister-in-law of Judith Apicella and Reid Echandia; beloved aunt of Donald and Joseph Apicella, their wives, Suzanne and Sarah, and their children, Madison, Donny, and Jack; and her “honorary daughter” Natasha Kuban. She was predeceased in death by her former husband, Wayne Riordan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25 , 2021, commencing at 4:00 PM and concluding at 8:00 PM, with a Catholic Blessing at 6:00 PM, at the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home,
533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken. Parking available in rear of memorial home off
Sixth Street. Cremation is private.
