Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charmaine Tarawally, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend. Charmaine departed this life surrounded by her family, leaving a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that will forever be cherished.

Charmaine was the devoted wife of Ibrahim Tarawally and the proud mother of Liman Tarawally (wife, Eva Tarawally) and Mariah Rumph (husband, Kershe Rumph ).

She was the loving grandmother of Jaydan, the eldest, Limani, and Nala, who brought immense joy to her life.

Born to the late Robert and Elizabeth Braxton, Charmaine was the caring sister of the late Anthony Braxton and Arlette Braxton.

She is survived by her siblings Patrice, Angela, Bernard, Paula, Madeline, Sherri, and Robert. Charmaine was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews who were blessed to know her warmth and generosity.

Charmaine dedicated much of her life to education, serving as a teacher with the Jersey City Board of Education for many years. Her passion for teaching and her commitment to shaping young minds left an indelible mark on her students and colleagues. After a well-deserved retirement, she continued to inspire others with her wisdom and compassion.

Charmaine’s family and friends will always remember her radiant smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for those around her. She was a woman of grace, strength, and selflessness, and her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her.
