Carmine “Carmelo” Sardella, 83, of Hoboken, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 19, 2022. He was the beloved husband of ( 33 years) to Luciana (nee Fonzetti). Carmine was the devoted father of Gianna Amato and her husband Danny, Gina Amato and her husband Mario, and Joseph Sardella and his wife Enza. The greatest joy in his life was his cherished grandchildren Daniel, Matthew, Nicholas, Justin, CJ, Luca, and Joseph.  

Carmine was born on November 28th 1938 in Monopoli, Bari Italy to Giovanna (nee Fiorini) and Giuseppe Sardella. He was one of seven children.

He came to this country in 1967 at the age of 28, and got married in 1968 to Silvana (nee Midili) Sardella. They started their family in Hoboken. Carmelo was predeceased by his late wife in February 1986.

He was self employed as a manufacturer of ladies coats in Jersey City for thirty years. He was an avid soccer player in Italy as a young man and his passion for the sport carried through the rest of his life. His interests included time with his family and friends on the beach and vacations on his favorite cruise ships.   

He was larger than life. Carmelo will always be remembered for his charismatic personality and the ability to make everyone around him smile.

He will truly be missed. 

Funeral Mass Tuesday, November 22, 2022, 10 A.M., St. Francis R.C. Church, Hoboken. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 beginning at 4 P.M. and concluding at 8 P.M.  Entombment Garden of Memories, Paramus.
