Obituary

Brian J. McCloskey, 70, of Hoboken, passed away August 4, 2026. He is survived by his brother, Kevin McCloskey, his sister-in-law Patt McCloskey, of Kutztown, PA, and a sister, Mary Ann McCloskey. Brian is also survived by his nephew, Daniel Patrick McCloskey and niece, Zoe Beth McCloskey, both of California.

Brian was born February 4, 1956 in Neptune, N.J. to the late Marie E. (née Moore) and James McCloskey.  A graduate of Westfield High, N.J, class of 1974, Brian studied art at Kutztown University, PA.  

He worked as a graphic artist for major design studios including Master Eagle Printing and Photo-Lettering Inc of New York City.

He was a lifelong Mets fan. He also served as a volunteer English language tutor to overseas visitors. Brian enjoyed taking his conversation students to baseball games. Former students from as far away as Okinawa, Japan, visited him at his Hoboken home.

He enjoyed solo travel, especially to Mexico and Nicaragua, where he made lifelong friends who he thought of as family.

He was a member of the Hoboken Historical Museum. His family is grateful to the museum for hosting a celebration of Brian’s life there on August 9, 2026.

All additional arrangements are private and under the direction of the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, Hoboken.
