In Loving Memory of Anthony T. DeStefano

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Anthony DeStefano, on December 29, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Anthony’s life was one marked by perseverance, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family, his country, and his community.

Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, Anthony was the beloved son of the late Mary (née Davenport) and Pasquale DeStefano. He was a devoted brother to George S. DeStefano, who preceded him in death earlier this year, and to the late Michele DeStefano Russo, and her late husband, Mayor Anthony Russo. Family was always at the center of Anthony’s life, and his bonds with his siblings were rooted in loyalty, shared history, and deep love.

Anthony proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and honor. After his military service, he dedicated many years to public service as a postal worker, known for his reliability, work ethic, and genuine care for the people he served. He believed deeply in doing honest work and showing up for others, no matter the circumstances.

Throughout his life, Anthony faced and endured significant personal hardships, bearing loss and adversity with remarkable resilience and dignity. He met life’s challenges without complaint, demonstrating courage, humility, and perseverance that inspired not only those closest to him, but also countless others. Despite these trials, his love for his family never wavered, and his strength became a quiet source of comfort to so many.

Anthony was a devoted father to his beloved daughter, the late Christina DeStefano, whose memory he carried with him always. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Clara DeStefano and Zachary Taylor, who brought him immense joy and purpose.

He was also a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews and their families:

• Nicholas (Nick) S. Russo, his wife Olivia, his daughter Jenna Rae, and their children Anthony Evan, Lucien Thomas, and Nicolo James, and grandson Tristian Kobylinski

• Dr. Michael S. Russo, Hoboken Third Ward Councilman, his wife Lisa, and their children Lia Grace, Jack Anthony, Michele Stella, and Michael Dean

• Anthony P. Russo, Hoboken Police Sergeant, his wife Aliesette, and their daughters Ava Liana and Aliana Micaela

To all who knew him, Anthony was a steady, loyal, and compassionate presence. He was outspoken and strong, private yet deeply loving, and always there when it mattered most. His humor, thoughtful nature, and steadfast support will be remembered long after his passing.

Anthony DeStefano leaves behind a legacy of resilience, service, and unconditional love. Though his life was marked by challenges, it was equally defined by strength, devotion, and grace. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered by those whose lives he touched.
