Nelida R. Negron, 99, of Hoboken, New Jersey, entered into eternal life on July 23, 2026.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Miguel A. Negron; her son-in-law, Benjamin Vega, Sr.; and three siblings.
Nelida was the devoted mother of Ivette Smulders and her husband, Al Arezzo, and Edith Vega. She was the cherished grandmother of Benjamin and his wife, Gianna; Vanessa; and Ashley and her husband, Adalberto. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Kayta.
Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, Nelida was the daughter of Adela Negron and Juan Quinones. She was the owner and manager of San Juan Market in Hoboken for many years, where she became a familiar and beloved member of the community.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken. Parking is available in the rear of the funeral home off Sixth Street.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis R.C. Church, 308 Jefferson Street, Hoboken.
Nelida will be entombed alongside her beloved husband at Holy Cross Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Nelida’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
