Geraldine N. Calligy (née Canning), 99, a life-long Hoboken resident, passed away peacefully at the Hamilton Health Center in Jersey City. Mrs. Calligy was a devoted parishioner of St. Francis RC Church. She was a member of the Mothers’ Guild at Our Lady of Grace Church and was honored as a former Irish Woman of the Year. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, James, 1995. Geraldine worked many years ago at Specialty Pencil Company, and was later employed and retired from United States Testing Company, both in Hoboken. Surviving are two sons, James D. Calligy and Timothy B. Calligy. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Kerry, Jason, Michael, and Jonathan. Geraldine was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Kaci, Cady, Matthew and Leo. She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia, and her brother, Edward.
The Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis R.C. Church, Hoboken, on Wednesday, November 11th, 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10th, beginning at 3 PM and concluding at 8 PM at the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken. Due to the COVID health crisis, face masks are required to be worn in order to safeguard public health. COVID restrictions will apply.
