Obituary

Wanda M. Ayala, a long time Hoboken resident, passed away peacefully Thursday the 18th of June 2020.

Born February 8th 1958 in San Germãn Puerto Rico she was the eldest of 12 siblings. Wanda had a spirit to explore and sought out to create a life that could foster that spirit. She eventually settled in Hoboken a city she grew to love. Here is where she became the first female field team member for Hoboken Housing and later the first female building superintendent of Applied Housing. She was with Hoboken Housing until she retired due to her diagnosis of Breast Cancer. Neither retirement nor cancer could stop Wanda. While fighting cancer Wanda made it a point to continue to live life to the fullest. She stayed busy managing to care for her children, granddaughter and friends. Wanda gave cancer the fight it deserved. She battled cancer for more than a half decade and was a superwoman through it all.

Wanda was a vibrant energy of love and kindness. She was loved by many blessed enough to have encountered her, but most loved by her closet’s friends and family.

Wanda is survived by her adoring son’s Pedro and Hank, her granddaughter Gisele, many siblings and a slew of nieces and nephews whom all have had the most wonderful experiences and life long memories created with Wanda. Wanda was a fierce warrior when it came to her family and would move heaven and earth for them. Wanda was not shy about showing the love she had for life. She strived to enjoy every bit of life and did everything to share that with her friends and family. Wanda’s family was always her priority.
