Vicenta Caridad Ortega, 76, of Hoboken, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 12, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Ortega (2008). Devoted mother to Manuel Ortega and Maribel Orriols and her husband Eric. The greatest joy in her life were her grandchildren Jordan and Justin. She is also survived by five endeared siblings, Luis, Rogelio, Miriam, Nancy, and Esther, and five nieces. Vicenta was born in Artemisa, Cuba to Vicenta Carmela Diaz Perez and Hipolito Filiberto Orta Rodriguez. Caridad left Cuba at 24 years old to marry the love of her life, Manuel Ortega. She then began her life in Hoboken with her two children, Manuel Ortega and Maribel Orriols and opened a successful dry-cleaning business, Cary’s Dry Cleaners. Her dream was to reunite her family and she spent her life bringing family members from Cuba to the United States. Her world revolved around her loved ones and she adored spending time cooking, feeding, and most of all sharing laughter. As the matriarch of her family, Caridad meant so much to many people who will always love and cherish her memory. She was especially adored by her children and grandchildren. To most she was known as Caridad, but to us she was known as Mami, Wela, Yaya, and Tia.
