Obituary

Paul Lanzo “Paulie”, 94, a lifelong Hoboken resident passed away on Friday December 10, 2021 at Hoboken University Medical Center. Paul was employed with the city of Hoboken in the water department for many years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a friend to many people.  Paulie was a special breed of “old Hoboken” fixtures.  He was always eager to tell stories about Hoboken’s history. He was predeceased by his daughter Paula Passenti in 2005 and his wife Clementine in 2010. Also, by his three brothers Joseph, Onofrio, and Vito and two sisters in law, Barbara and Carolyn. He will be sadly missed by his devoted daughter Michele and her husband Allan and his granddaughter Nicole Passenti and her father Robert. He will also be missed by his “bonus grandchildren” Alexandra Boyer Coffey, her husband Kevin and Gabrielle Boyer and her partner Michael. Paul was an endeared uncle to Joseph Lanzo, Jr. and brother in law to Annette. Paul adored his “granddog” Penny (his little “Boo Boo”) and loved to spoil her with tons of treats. Paul’s loss will also be felt by many neighbors, as he was considered the unofficial mayor of 11th street. He enjoyed sitting out on his stoop greeting all who passed. Many people considered him a part of their morning routine. He considered the neighborhood children his honorary grandchildren and took special pride in watching them grow up and asking them about school and their activities.

Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Lawrence R.C. Church, Weehawken on Thursday, December 16 at 9:30am.

Interment following at Holy Cross cemetery North Arlington.

Visiting hours will begin at 4pm and conclude at 8pm on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
