Maria Mastropasqua, 88, of Jersey City passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
December 12th, 2023 at Jersey City Medical Center. Maria was born on February 24th, 1935 in Molfetta, Bari, Italy, to her proud parents, Crescenzo and Elisabetta (nee DePinto) Palombella.

At the tender young age of 11, she and her older brother Onofrio were orphaned. She was taken under care by her aunt, Yolanda Palombella, where she developed her trade in the garment industry supporting the family business as a bespoke clothing designer/maker.

Maria immigrated to the United States and settled in Weehawken, NJ in 1966. Shortly thereafter she met her husband to be, Vincenzo, and they were married in December 1968. A year later their first child, Dorothy, was born and then two years later, their son, Michael.

She dedicated her life to the care of her children, and then grandchildren. The family purchased a home in the Heights section of Jersey City where she resided for 48 years until her passing.

We will miss her greatly, as will all of those who knew her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of fifty-two years Vincenzo in 2020, and her adored brother Onofrio Palombella in 2019. She leaves behind her son Michael Mastropasqua, and her daughter Dorothy and husband Eduardo Tapanes. A great joy in Maria’s life was her cherished grandsons Henry and Steven.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 15th, 2023 beginning at 4pm and
concluding at 8pm at Failla-McKnight Memorial Home in Hoboken.

The funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s RC Church in Hoboken on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 beginning at 11am.

Entombment will follow at Fairview Mausoleum in Fairview, NJ.
