Obituary

December 19, 1947 – August 25, 2020

The world is a little less fun today. Kathy passed away on Tuesday morning, August 25th.

She leaves behind her husband and best friend of 54 years, Cosmo De Pinto, their children Jennifer and Vincent, and two grandchildren, Sienna and Vincent.

She takes with her a wicked sense of humor, a love of crosswords, and a talent for turning any Sunday dinner into a small Thanksgiving feast.

Kathy and Cosmo were sixteen and seventeen when they went to see Carnal Knowledge at the Fabian. It was their first date and also when Kathy became a lifelong fan of both Jack Nicholson and Cosmo De Pinto.

Over the years they raised their kids, ran the Downtown Store and Cosmo’s Cleaners, occasionally got away to Vegas, Atlantic City, or Aruba with their best friends and partners in crime, Flo and Dom, managed a once-in-a-lifetime family trip to Italy and eventually moved out of their Hoboken apartment to a bigger place in Secaucus.

Kathy is also survived by her daughter Jennifer’s partner Thomas Vincent, and son Vincent’s partner Danette Esposito. Also by her brother Buddy and his wife Janet, along with nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors who will all desperately miss her friendship, honesty, and humor.

While not born a De Pinto, she became an essential part of that family and always remained close to her brothers-in-law Onofrio and Sal. And sisters-in-laws, Elaine, Lucrezia and Lin.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Hudson Regional Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center for taking care of our Kathy. The work you do is heroic.

Also, there will be a little more Pinot Grigio and extra garlic around now that Kathy won’t be needing it. Think of her when you raise a glass or a fork.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020, beginning at 4PM and concluding at 8PM at Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken. Parking available in rear of memorial home off Sixth Street. A Catholic Blessing will be offered on Friday, August 28, 2020, 10AM at the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Fairview Mausoleum, Fairview, New Jersey.
