Obituary

Joseph Peter Truglio, or as he was fondly known around Hoboken, “Joe Black”, 84, lifelong resident of Hoboken and the surrounding area, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024.

He leaves behind many cherished loved ones who will miss him dearly. Beloved husband of Martha (née Parajon) Truglio of 40 years. Loving and devoted father of children, Gerard (Janice) Truglio, Joseph (Stacey) Truglio, and Martha Churchill.

Predeceased by his sister, Roseanna Santa, and older brother to Alex Truglio.

The greatest joys in Joseph’s life were his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Truglio (predeceased), Samantha Truglio, Carly Truglio, Matthew Truglio, and Isabella Morey; as well as his beloved great-grandchildren, Dominick and Mila.

Joseph also leaves behind ahost of cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Joseph was born on July 25, 1939 in Jersey City, NJ to Nicoletta (née Bocca) and Dominick Truglio. Joseph was strong willed and stubborn at times, a true “Hobokenite.” Joseph had a heart of gold and a great sense of humor. He was generous, compassionate, and the most loyal friend that anyone could ever ask for. He was an avid sports fan and his canine companions were dear to him.

He will be remembered for all of the love and kindness that he shared with his friends and family; if you were fortunate enough to have been loved by Joseph then you were truly blessed indeed.

When his time came, he carried himself with dignity and grace, and was full of love for those who went before him. He was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11th, at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 704 Jefferson St, Hoboken, NJ 07030, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a mass at 11:30 am.

A private cremation will be held at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, NJ.
