Obituary

Jose Ampudia, 89, of Hoboken passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 at Hoboken University Medical Center. Jose was born on October 17, 1934 in La Villas, Guayos, Cuba to his loving parents, Clara Aurora Ampudia (nee Bode) and Jose Ampudia.

In 1955 Jose moved from Cuba to the United States to begin his life. Jose moved to New York City where he worked in numerous jobs in order to send for his beloved wife Elda, who was still in Cuba. Later on, they would move to Hoboken, New Jersey, where they would raise their 4 cherished children in Hoboken, New Jersey. Jose was a wonderful provider for his wife and 4 children. 

Jose worked as Building Maintenance Manager for Church Towers for many years until he and Elda retired and moved to Sunny Isles Beach Florida in 1998.

Jose will be missed tremendously, He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years Elda in 2020, his sister Coralia Madrigal (2019), his son Jose Ampudia (2021) and his daughter Ana Maria Ampudia (2021). He leaves behind his daughters Christina Ampudia and Lourdes Shinnick, her husband John Shinnick.

A great joy in his life were his five grandchildren Briget, Alana, Mariel, Jose Aidan and two great grandchildren Ava & Bruno.

Visitation will be held at on Saturday January 13th, 2024 beginning at 10:00am and concluding at 11:00am at Failla-McKnight Funeral Home 533 Willow Ave, Hoboken, NJ 07030.

The funeral mass will be offered at Our Lady of Grace Church on Saturday January 13th, 2024 beginning at 11:30am. Located on 400 Willow Avenue, Hoboken, NJ 0703.

Interment will follow at Weehawken Cemetery located at 4000 Bergen Turnpike, North Bergen, NJ 07047.
