John Thomas Cogelia, Jr. “Jackie”, 71, formerly of Kearny and Secaucus, passed away suddenly in North Bergen. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Hoboken through his high school years. Graduating in 1968 from Hoboken Senior High School as an outstanding athlete in football, baseball and swimming. He was a graduate of Jersey City University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.
Jack was predeceased by his loving parents, Marie (nee Rozzi) and John T. Cogelia, Sr. Surviving are his two endeared sisters, Bernardina McKnight, and her husband John, and Maria Naszimento and her husband Bruce. Also surviving are three nephews, Zachary Naszimento (Dana), Jake Naszimento (fiancé Kristina ), and David J. McKnight. He is the great uncle of Zachary and Ava Naszimento and David and Anastasia McKnight. Jack leaves a host of cousins, and many old friends to mourn his passing.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to share in the Celebration of the Eucharist on Monday, November 1, 2021, 11 a.m. at St. Francis RC Church, Hoboken. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ. We ask that everyone gather directly at St. Francis RC Church no later than 10:45 a.m. Parking available adjacent to the church at 3rd and Jefferson Street. NO VISITATION AT FUNERAL HOME.
