Jean Simone passed away peacefully at home on June 16th, 2023, just shy of her 90th birthday.
She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Simone. She was a devoted mother to her 3 children, Rick Simone and his husband, Ralph Annibale, Jr., Debra Ferrara and her husband Mario Ferrara and Lori Antuofermo and her husband Nick Antuofermo. She was blessed with 3 grandsons, Michael, Thomas, his wife Brielle and Nicholas.
She is survived by her brother, Richard, and his wife, Chickie.
A Brooklyn native, she was born on August 16th, 1933 to Silvio and Emma Giannicchi, (nee Calenzo). When Jean turned 2 years of age, her mother unexpectedly passed away. Years later, she was blessed when her father Silvio remarried a wonderful woman, Lucia LaPietra. Lucy as she was known as, raised Jean as if she was her own daughter.
After high school, she began a career in administration in the legal profession and later continued her career in banking. She met and married Eugene Simone, spending more than 42 years together.
She left work to begin a family but returned to fulfill her passion for banking. Spending the majority of her life in Brooklyn, she retired with her husband to Old Bridge, New Jersey.
In her youth, she was a volleyball enthusiast. Jean had many interests, including sharing cherished times with friends and family, travel, knitting, reading books, going to the beach and continuing her love of baking, which she excelled at. Jean was a true beacon of warmth, kindness, generosity and acceptance. Throughout her life, she maintained a commitment to the ideals of her Catholic faith through peace, comfort, grace and refuge.
The Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Ann’s RC Church; 704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken, New Jersey on Friday, June 23rd, 2023 beginning at 12pm.
Prior to the mass, a viewing for Jean will be at the church, beginning at 11am and concluding at 11:50am. Parking is available in the rear of the church on 7th and Madison Street.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington, NJ to be reunited with her beloved husband, Eugene.
