Obituary

Christina Luizzi, 90, a lifelong Hoboken resident, passed away peacefully at home on May 31st, 2023 at the age of 90.

Christina was predeceased by her husband Thomas of 53 years, as well as her parents, Joseph and Anna Vescuso.

In her younger years, Tina worked as a seamstress before marrying and starting a family. After the birth of her children, she dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom. As her children grew older, she returned to work as a cashier at a local family-owned business. Cervelli’s Supermarket would soon become more fun than work, as she enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with her co-workers. Her final position came later in life when she was promoted to grandmother to three grandchildren, whom she helped raise.

Good times followed Tina wherever she went. She had many friends and enjoyed going places & spending time with them. Tina liked the bus rides to Atlantic City, the Theatre in New York, attending local dinner dances and playing a fun game of bingo! She also loved the beach and family vacations at the Jersey Shore. Although she loved being out and about, many of her favorite memories were made by simply sitting on her front stoop surrounded by her longtime friends.

Tina was a member of the St. Francis Altar Rosary Society.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Jr and his wife Lorraine and her daughter Anna and her husband Michael. She especially loved and cherished her grandchildren Christina, Tommy, and Vincent.

Tina will be forever missed and always remembered.

A mass will be offered at St. Francis RC Church on Monday, June 5th, 2023, beginning at 10:30am.

Entombment will follow at Holy Name Mausoleum in Jersey City, NJ.

A visitation will be held at the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home; 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken, NJ on Sunday, June 4th, 2023 beginning at 2pm and concluding at 6pm.

Parking is available in rear of memorial home, off sixth st., between Park Avenue and Willow.
