Obituary

Antonio Rivera Sr., A.K.A “Tony Smokey Tuti”, 54, of Hoboken, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  He is survived by his beloved children Nadine Lee, Antonio Rivera Jr. (36), Matthew Lee (33), twins Charlene and Colleen (32), and Nichole (31). Antonio is also survived by Melody Burgos and their children Melody Lynn Burgos, (30) and Isaiah Rivera (21).

The greatest joy in his life were his Grandchildren Emani, Briana, Ciara, Cayden, Liam, Leonidas, Aden, Reign, Zuri, and Luex.  He will be sadly missed by his siblings Juan, Juana, Milagros, and Rosanna, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Antonio was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 16, 1966 to Hilda De’ Leon Gaston and Juan Ignacio Rivera.  Antonio was extremely talented, and brought such joy, strength, and determination to everything he did. He participated in Body Building and was remarkable at anything he set his mind to. Heaven has gained a new wise and strong angel.  Antonio was self-employed or better known as a “Jack of all Trades”. He had many hobbies but what he enjoyed doing most was flooring work, painting, and plumbing repairs. He loved music and would definitely be the first one on the dance floor. Antonio lived his life to the fullest regardless of what anyone thought of him. He will always have a special place in everyone’s heart that knew him. Having a conversation with Antonio was similar to “street therapy.”  He was a man with a gentleness and kindness in his soul.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 beginning at 10 A.M. and concluding at 12:15 P.M. at the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Ave., Hoboken, followed by interment at Weehawken Cemetery, North Bergen
